This past December, Zak, Lydia, + I met for their golden hour engagement session at Memphis Botanic Garden in East Memphis! The weather could not have been more perfect for a walk around the 96 acre oasis in the heart of our vast metropolitan city. (Don’t worry, we did NOT walk all 96 acres. If we had, I wouldn’t be alive to write this blogpost, hahahaha.)
These two grew up in rural Mississippi in the same small town, currently reside in Memphis, + plan to settle down in Florida after their wedding. However, the travel bug is strong with this couple. Not long after we shot these engagement photos they flew to South America!
In their initial inquiry, Lydia + Zak describe themselves as “big nerds who also love football.” If you know me, you know I’m not a big football enthusiast. For me, sports are just excuses to buy cute shirts + put a temporary tattoo on my cheek. 😉
However, they also mentioned they have two dogs “both of whom [they] like more than most people.” HELLO, SPIRIT ANIMALS! <3
(Spoiler: I got to meet their doggos at their wedding + they are the goodest boys!)
Honestly, my jaw hit the floor when they mentioned they have been together for OVER A DECADE. Seriously, y’all. These two have not only navigated life from their teenage years to now, but they have GROWN through all of those changes + obstacles together. That level of commitment is absolutely beautiful, and is truly an inspiration to me in my own relationship.
Engagement sessions are the PERFECT way to get comfortable with your photographer in front of a camera before your wedding! They are available separately or may be included in a JMP wedding collection.
JMP is based in Memphis, TN but is ALWAYS down to travel! Read a little about me here + then contact me! I’d love to talk about becoming your professional wedding photographer!
